The Andes or Sierra runs north to south
covering the entire length of the
country. There are two parallel-running
mountain ranges (the eastern and western
ridges) in the Ecuadorian Andes, which
support 22 peaks over 4,200 meters.
Many of them are over 5,000 meters,
with Chimborazo being the highest
one at 6,330. The two mountain ranges
are separated by the inter-Andean
region, several intermountain basins
filled with many different beautiful
destinations.
