Our one-day program will allow you
to get introduced to the smoothest
ride in the world.
We will pick you up from your hotel
at 8 a.m. and take you to our Ranch
CRIADERO ILALO, located just 30 minutes
from the city in the foothills of
Ilalo Volcano. The riding program
begins with a short tour of the premises.
We will show you our breeding studs
and work horses. A demonstration of
our horses will show you the inbred
characteristics of the Paso horse.
After this introduction you will ride
inside our ranch to get comfortable
in the saddle and to understand the
basic principles of riding a Paso
horse. We will leave the ranch at
approximately 10.30 a.m. to begin
the ride to the top of Ilalo Volcano
(a 600 meter climb), located at 3,100
m.a.s.l. This takes between 2 to 3
hours. From the top of Ilalo Volcano,
on a clear day, you get a spectacular
360-degree view of the entire region. This
includes Quito, the Cumbaya and Tumbaco
valleys, and all the volcanoes and
snow peaks surrounding the region
including Cotopaxi Volcano, Illinizas,
Antisana, Sincholagua, Pasochoa, Pichincha
and Cayambe Volcanoes.
Box lunch will be at the top of Ilalo
Volcano.
After lunch we will mount our horses
to descend back to the ranch. We return
to the ranch at approximately 2 p.m.,
and here you will have the chance
to relax and enjoy the premises. After
finishing the riding tour, we will
drive you back to your hotel in Quito.
